No, the game is designed in such a way that you do not need any prior knowledge of the target language to play the game. WonderLang includes foundational lessons in grammar and conjugation. However, it's best used as a supplementary tool alongside traditional language learning methods like classes or textbooks. Look here for tips on how to use WonderLang depending on your level:
WonderLang is crafted for a broad audience, starting with children aged 9. Its engaging content is designed to be appreciated by players of all ages. Most of our players are adults. If you child is younger than 9, you can join in the fun and act as a guide.
WonderLang has been designed for beginner learners and those studying for the A1 & A2 levels (or quivalent TOPIK levels 1 & 2 or JLPT levels 5 & 4). It covers the full A1 level and a big part of the A2 level. It is also suitable for A2-level learners looking for a fun way to practice. It has different modes that tailor the difficulty to each level (Beginners, A1, and A2). More in for here.
WonderLang (Single Language) is available now for US $24.99 USD (base price) on Steam! It’s a one-time payment – not a subscription. There are no hidden or additional fees; you pay once and enjoy the full game with over 40 hours of gameplay and learning content. You can also get the Polyglot Version for US $38.99 (base price) on Steam. This version grants access to all current and future languages! You can get the game cheaper if you buy it from this site directly. We often run promotions.
We regularly publish free updates and enhancements to WonderLang, influenced by player feedback. We plan to add more free content targeted at absolute beginners and advanced A2-level learners.
WonderLang's journey begins on Windows PC and macOS. You can either play via Steam or buy the game as a direct download. We recommend macOS users to play via Steam as launching an app you downloaded directly on your Mac can be blocked by the OS. Android and iOS versions are planned but we do not have a release date yet.
Yes, WonderLang is playable on SteamDeck. It has an official layout you use that makes it great to play on SteamDeck
The French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, German, Korean and Japanese learning versions have been released on Steam and direact download via itch.io. You can also get the Polyglot Version. This version grants access to all current and future languages for less than the price of 2 languages! These versions are designed for English speakers (with English as the base language); however, we plan to implement French and Spanish as base languages in the next few months. You can also help us by donating/pre-ordering the game for the next languages.
